Run Flat Tyres

Run Flat Tyre Repair

Normally a puncture means having to stop and replace your tyre. Not with Bridgestone’s Run Flat Tyre. It’s specially designed to let you travel up to 80km (80km/h or less) even after a puncture.

This means:

  • You can bring your car to a safe location even when the tyre is punctured.
  • You don’t have to change the tyre yourself.
  • You won’t need to carry a spare tyre, freeing up space and improving overall fuel efficiency.

Conditions of our Run Flat Tyre repair:

  • Run Flat Tyres can only be fitted to vehicles with a TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System).
  • We recommend Run Flat Tyres are only fitted to vehicles that have Run Flat Tyres fitted as Original Equipment.

Punctures and Repairs

Modern tyres seem to be stronger and harder to puncture, but sometimes getting a puncture is inevitable. That’s why at our Bridgestone Tyre Centre we offer a convenient puncture repair service.

If you do get a puncture bring it in and our team of technicians will evaluate if it can be fixed in a safe and professional manner in line with safety standards (NZ Standard 5423) and have you back on the road in no time.

Tips to avoid getting punctures:

  • Check the treads on your tyres regularly for embedded glass, stones or sharp objects.
  • Make sure your tyres are inflated correctly (including the spare).

Never drive on a flat or partially deflated tyre

Driving on a flat tyre doesn’t only compromise your safety, but increases the chance of having to fully replace the tyre.

So if you notice your tyre is looking a bit flat, pull over, replace it with your spare and bring it on in for us to check out.

Wheel Balancing

If your car has a case of the shakes, it is highly likely that at least one of your wheels need balancing. It is not only difficult to drive with unbalanced wheels, but this condition can create bald spots in your tyres, permanent vibration and uneven tyre wear.

Your wheels might need to be balanced if any of the following conditions apply:

  • At certain speeds your car shakes.
  • You have recently had new tyres fitted.
  • You have had a tyre removed from its rim.
  • You have noticed even a small amount of irregular tyre wear.
  • You have unusual vibrations in your steering wheel.

Getting your wheels balanced will increase the life of your steering and suspension systems and optimise your fuel efficiency. At Bridgestone Tyre Centre we use technologically advanced, market leading wheel balancing technology, to achieve perfect wheel balancing. No matter how bad of a case of the shakes your vehicle has, we are confident that we can smooth things out.

For just $13.50 per tyre, you can receive Road Hazard Warranty, which will make sure you’re covered for:

  • Free puncture repairs
Any repairable puncture will be fixed free of charge for the legal tread life of the tyre.
  • Free tyre replacement
If the tyre can’t be repaired we’ll fit a replacement and you’ll pay nothing within the first 12,000km or 12 months, whichever comes first.
  • Protection for the life of the tyre.
For the remainder of the legal tread life of the tyre (after 12,000km or 12 months), if the tyre can’t be repaired, you will only pay for the tread you’ve used. For example, if you have only used 15% of the legal tread depth you will only pay 15% of the tyre’s current value to replace it.

Bridgestone HandPut yourself in safe hands

Think about that!

The lives of you, your family and friends, everyone you care about are literally riding on just four handprints.

Our commitment:
We go to such great lengths because we are committed to your safety. When it comes to protecting you on the road, all of the research and development we undertake is to ensure that you’re in the safest hands possible. Whether it’s high performance technology, durability or all round comfort, there’s a Bridgestone tyre to keep you safe wherever you’re going.

Put yourself in safe hands in the care of the world’s number one tyre brand.

How to read your tyre size

Tyre Size Example

Tyre Size illustrationExample: 215/60R15

  • 215 is the width of the tyre in millimetres.
  • 60 is the aspect ratio or tyre profile. • R means it is radial construction.
  • 15 is the diameter of the wheel rim in inches.
  • Along with the manufacturer’s name and the name of the tyre (e.g. Bridgestone Ecopia), there’s always a set of numbers and letters that relate to the size of the tyre. Here’s a rundown on what those numbers mean:

What’s a tyre’s profile?

This relates to the depth of the sidewall (the wall at the side of the tyre). The profile is expressed as a percentage of the tyre’s width. Eg. Our 215/60R15 tyre has a profile or sidewall that is 60% of the 215mm (width). A low profile tyre is generally 50% or below, down to as little as 30% with ultra low profile tyres. Higher performance vehicles are usually fitted with tyres that have lower profiles.

While low profile tyres give you greater control and better handling on corners, they can give a slightly harder ride. Also, going to a lower profile on the same size wheels will alter your speedometer reading so you’ll need to fix that up before you hit the road.
